Mr Niall Sullivan

Hip and trauma surgeon

Mr Niall Sullivan is a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant Orthopaedic Hip and Trauma Surgeon. With over three years of consultant experience, he is dedicated to restoring mobility and improving quality of life. He specialises in hip replacement and complex hip revision surgery, with a particular focus on hip arthritis, avascular necrosis, metastatic cancer, and post-traumatic conditions.

After training in Bristol, Mr Sullivan undertook an advanced arthroplasty fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand, where he gained expertise in robotic and navigation-assisted hip surgery. He went on to complete further fellowships in advanced hip arthroplasty and major trauma at Southmead Hospital.

He currently serves as the Hip Fracture Lead at Bristol Royal Infirmary and is the Orthopaedic Lead for Silver Trauma. Niall also contributes to the regional centre for prosthetic hip joint infection at Southmead Hospital.

Passionate about education, he plays a key role in surgical training, teaching over 100 trainees through Health Education England. He also collaborates on clinical research with the University of Bristol and has received multiple research awards.

Having undergone hip surgery himself, Niall brings a unique perspective to his work. He understands the patient journey and is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
